Welcome to the Scots Ancestry
Research Society, the oldest established organisation
tracing family history in Scotland.
 The
society has operated since 1945 and has prepared over
70,000 reports for clients from all over the world with
Scottish roots.
They have included rock stars, wine growers, film stars,
a Danish Baron and several Lord Provosts. We have traced
families back to Rob Roy, Robert Burns and Robert the
Bruce but of course most people do not have such well-known
ancestors!
All families are of interest
to us, however, and any piece of genealogical research
will give fascinating, often moving, sometimes tragic
insights into the lives of Scotland's people over the
centuries.
We are based in Edinburgh and
undertake genealogical research in New Register House
and the National Archives of Scotland where the original
historic records of Births, Marriages, Deaths, Census
returns, Testaments and Sasines are held for the whole
of Scotland.
