More information about us
We are the oldest
established professional genealogy research organisation
in Scotland (established
in 1945) and have undertaken over 70,000 searches for
clients worldwide.
We are based in Edinburgh and use the original records
in New Register House and the National Archives of Scotland
to produce a report and family tree.
We also include in our report package digital images
of certain birth, marriage, death and census entries
and also of testaments. Our narrative report includes
full transcripts of the entries found in the records.
The information
we need before we start research is a date of
birth, marriage or death of someone in Scotland. The
more information you can give us of course makes the
search easier, less time-consuming and less expensive.
We can trace back for you or we can trace forwards to
try to find living relatives.
The charges
for research are based on the time spent on research
- which is always difficult to estimate in advance.
There is a deposit of £20.00 for which we will
do one hour's research.
We ask you to authorise further hours at £18.00
per hour and we will work up to your limit of time.
On average a good search going back on one ancestral
line costs between £60.00 and £120.00.
We can accept payment by UK Sterling Cheque, International
Sterling Money Order (payable on a London bank), Canadian
Postal Money Order in Sterling and US Dollar Cashier's
Check. We are sorry we cannot accept payment by US Dollar
personal check, credit or debit card.
